An exhibition by the Vitra Design Museum
It has become clear in recent years that housing is a scarce resource. In major cities, property prices are rising, and traditional approaches to housing construction are unable to meet demand. These challenges have sparked a quiet revolution in contemporary architecture: building and living together.
Together! The New Architecture of the Collective is the first exhibition to explore this theme in depth through an immersive spatial experience, featuring examples from Europe, Asia and the United States presented via models, films and apartments reproduced on a 1:1 scale. The study of historical precursors also illustrates the history of communal architecture, tracing a path from the reformist ideas of the early 19th century to the hippies and squatters who chanted the slogan ‘Make love, no lofts’.
