Lecture

By Christophe Pirenne (Professor of Music History at UCLouvain)

In the musical imagination, recording in a prestigious studio has long been considered a major achievement. Over the past few decades, however, the home studio has turned this imaginary world on its head. Nowadays, we compose, record, produce and mix at home. How did these upheavals come about? What impact have these new practices had on music?

The history of these home studios, from the late 1970s to the present day, will be explored in this lecture.

Price: 10 euros
The lecture (19:30) will be preceded by a guided tour of the "Home Made" exhibition at 18:30.
Drink offered.
